PM Internship Scheme J&K Review Meeting in Jammu
PM Internship Scheme J&K was reviewed by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo during a high-level meeting held in Jammu on April 16.
Senior officers from School Education, Employment, and Skill Development departments attended the meeting. Officials from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs also joined through video conferencing.
PM Internship Scheme J&K Details and Benefits
Atal Dulloo said that the PM Internship Scheme was started under Union Budget 2024–25. The scheme aims to help youth get better job skills.
Under this scheme, students can get internships in companies for six to nine months. They also receive ₹9,000 per month and a one-time grant of ₹6,000.
PM Internship Scheme J&K Current Status
Officials informed that more than 4,400 youth have registered on the portal in Jammu and Kashmir. Out of these, over 2,800 profiles are complete.
However, only 68 internship opportunities are available in the region. This shows a gap between the number of students and available positions.
PM Internship Scheme J&K Target and Plan
Atal Dulloo set a target of two lakh registrations across Jammu and Kashmir. He asked all departments to work in mission mode.
He also said that internship opportunities should be increased to at least 1,000 soon by working closely with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
PM Internship Scheme J&K Outreach Efforts
Departments were told to use ITIs, colleges, and polytechnics to spread awareness. District Employment Centres and Common Service Centres will also help in registrations.
Secretary Skill Development, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, shared a 100-day plan. The plan aims to achieve 20,000 registrations in the first phase.
Awareness drives, help desks, and mobile units will be used, especially in remote areas.
PM Internship Scheme J&K and Mission YUVA
Officials said the scheme will also connect with Mission YUVA. Around 4.73 lakh youth have already been identified under this mission.
Nearly 2,000 YUVA Doots will help in door-to-door awareness and registration work.
PM Internship Scheme J&K Monitoring
The Chief Secretary asked departments to track progress regularly using digital platforms. He also said problems should be solved quickly to keep the process smooth.
He said the scheme can help reduce the gap between education and jobs and prepare youth for future work demands.
