Reasi, 20 May 2026: Demonstrating swift action, Reasi Police arrested notorious criminal Surinder Kumar alias Babbu within 4-5 hours of registering an FIR in a murder bid case at Katra. On 19th May 2026, Jaswant Singh of Dhandal, Udhampur, lodged a complaint at Police Station Katra alleging that the accused attempted to kill him. Acting promptly, police registered FIR No. 152/2026 under Sections 109, 351(1), 351(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation. Using technical assistance and sustained efforts, the PS Katra team tracked and apprehended the accused within hours. Police said the accused is a repeat offender, previously booked in FIR No. 24/2006 under Sections 376/511/341 RPC and FIR No. 47/2009 under Sections 302/307/323/341/325/120-B/109 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act. Reasi Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and taking strict action against criminals and anti-social elements.
