Reasi, April 27: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Kumar Abhishek, today chaired the annual meeting of the Zila Sainik Welfare Board to review issues and grievances of Ex-Servicemen and their dependents in the district.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various issues concerning the welfare of Ex-Servicemen, including renewal and issuance of gun licenses, release of excess pension to PCDA by banks after the death of Ex-Servicemen, and provision of hostel facilities at ZSWO Reasi. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned banks to furnish detailed, case-wise reports of pending excess pension recovery cases at the earliest for necessary follow-up and resolution.
Emphasizing employment generation, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Zila Sainik Welfare Office to compile comprehensive data of eligible Ex-Servicemen seeking employment. He further directed that the matter be taken up with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Shiv Khori Shrine Board for providing suitable employment opportunities on priority. The Deputy Commissioner also asked the concerned officers to take up the issue with the principals of Kendriya Vidyalayas to ensure due preference for wards of Ex-Servicemen during admissions.
Issues related to transportation facilities for students of Kendriya Vidyalayas were also raised during the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner assured that the matter would be taken up with the Kendriya Vidyalaya authorities for early redressal.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to proactive grievance redressal, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that all genuine issues of the Ex-Servicemen would be addressed in a time-bound manner through coordinated efforts of all stakeholders.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, Chief Medical Officer, Tehsildar Reasi, DySP (HQ), and Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Retd. Capt. Kapil Sharma, attended the meeting.
